KPS engineers solar power systems for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas in Egypt, using ATEX/IECEx-certified solar modules, flameproof enclosures and long-life OPzV batteries. These systems power remote monitoring, control and communication equipment on oil & gas sites, unattended, without exposing people or equipment to ignition risk.

Pharos Marine hazardous-area solar

Pharos Marine Automatic Power builds solar modules and battery enclosures for offshore and hazardous locations. KPS uses SPEX modules certified for Zone 1 and stainless-steel battery boxes for Zone 1 and Zone 2, so generation and storage stay compliant on site.

Victron Energy MPPT and Cerbo GX monitoring

Victron SmartSolar MPPT controllers regulate charging from the solar field, while a Cerbo GX with GX IO-Extender continuously evaluates critical functions and raises alarms remotely. Each controller is housed in a certified Ex d enclosure, and the architecture is split so a single fault never takes the whole system down.

Project example: Zone 1 solar for an oil & gas site

On a site classified Zone 1 for hydrogen hazard, KPS engineered and deployed a solar power system designed to run unattended. It combines a Pharos Marine SPEX solar field, Victron MPPT controllers in Ex d enclosures, an EnerSys OPzV battery bank and a BARTEC central protection hub, with remote visibility from day one. Hazardous-area solar: FAQs

Can solar panels be installed in a Zone 1 hazardous area?

Yes, if every component is certified for the zone and gas group. KPS uses ATEX/IECEx-certified Pharos Marine SPEX solar modules and houses non-certified electronics in certified Ex d flameproof enclosures.

Do you supply Pharos Marine products in Egypt?

Yes. KPS supplies and integrates Pharos Marine hazardous-area solar modules and Zone 1/2 battery boxes in Egypt as part of engineered solar power systems.

How are Victron charge controllers used in Zone 1?

Victron SmartSolar MPPT controllers are not certified for hazardous areas on their own. In KPS systems they are installed inside cast-aluminium Ex d (flameproof) enclosures rated IP66 and T5, certified for the zone.

Which battery is used in a hazardous-area solar system?

KPS typically uses EnerSys PowerSafe OPzV tubular gel batteries for their long life, deep-cycle performance and no water addition, installed in certified battery enclosures.

Is KPS ATEX certified?

The ATEX/IECEx certification applies to the products. KPS supplies and integrates compliant hazardous-area solutions built from globally certified manufacturers and products, such as Pharos Marine and BARTEC.
